The National Library for the Blind

The National Library for the Blind (NLB) is a registered charity and a leading agency in the provision of library and information services for visually impaired people. We house Europe's largest collection of Braille and Moon books and provide a free postal library service to blind and partially sighted people worldwide.

We help individuals choose their reading and answer reference and other enquiries, directly or through our website.

NLB-online is fully accessible and includes our catalogue, a book ordering facility, an area for young people and an email chat group for readers. Our website also offers a range of innovative online services including electronic books and reference materials as well as gateways to information on visual impairment and links to other accessible websites.

Our vision

Our vision is to ensure that visually impaired people have the same access to library services as sighted people.

Our mission

Our mission is to be the gateway to library and information services for visually impaired people in the UK.
