Audio Access is a professional audio production house, which majors in providing free, relevant, impartial and accessible information for visually-impaired people.
In partnership with the national charity, VIsound, Audio Access produces and distributes information on standard audio cassette, on CD and via the Internet.
Thanks to the support of Action for Blind People, Audio Access produces Soundings - the UK's audio magazine for visually-impaired people. The monthly tape, which is also broadcast on the Internet from the States, is presented in the style of a radio magazine programme and covers all aspects of living with a visual-impairment and deals with such topics as, for example, daily-living aids for the home and garden, claiming benefits, going on holiday, hobbies and pastimes, human interest stories, news and campaigns. The Soundings programme is supported by a telephone service, staffed by Action for Blind People and in this way, you can follow up what you've heard on Soundings or talk to someone on a one-to-one basis about anything with which you need help, support or advice. Soundings is distributed free of charge by the Talking Newspaper Association of the UK and many local talking newspaper groups.
Audio Access also produces accessible information in audio on the WebSight UK web site. Again a wide range of topics are covered and the audio can be played from the screen or downloaded for future reference. The site also contains useful links sites and e-mail addresses relevant to each topic featured. You can also telephone the web site to make your voice heard and comment on the issues of the day or share useful advice with other visually-impaired people.
